Other Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I drink alcohol on The HandleBar?
Yes – Beer and wine only. If you bring glass it cannot be accessed unless we are at one of our designated stops. If you’re bringing wine we recommend plastic water bottles (cups tend to spill).
What do I need to bring as far as drinks go ?
Coolers, Ice, Beer, Wine, water bottles for wine, etc. Any size cooler will fit. We’ve never had a cooler too big (anything less than 2 feet in width will fit) and there’s always room for small coolers above in the roof rack. Remember: The HandleBar is not legally authorized to assist in the consumption of alcohol so you’ll need to bring the coolers and ice.
What dates are available ?
To view all availability and book online, click the “Book Now” button on our Pricing/Booking Page . If you would like to book a tour within 48 hours of the start time, please text us at 317-620-1448 to see if we can fit you in!
How do I pay ?
The tour will be paid when the tour is booked via our online booking system. Cash is no longer accepted due to really awesome people cancelling credit cards and not showing up. Enough bad apples have ruined it for the rest of us unfortunately.
Where do we park ?
Paid parking is available at the Tow Yard lot in front of Tow Yard (usually $5 on weekdays, $10 on weekends). On event days, pricing may change.
What is the route we take ?
Your driver will handle the route unless you have some place you’d really like to go. As long as we can find parking, just let us know and we’ll tailor your route. Typically we will make three stops at The Circle, a bar on Mass Ave and a bar on Georgia Street: http://www.handlebarindy.com/handlebar-routes/
Does The HandleBar supply food or beverages?
No, however riders can bring food and drinks (beer and wine only). This means no mixed drinks and no hard liquor. (Pre-packaged drinks like Bud Light margarita in a can, etc. are OK) We’ve got LOTS of space in the inside roof rack that spans the entire perimeter of the bike for food, beverages, coolers. In the middle of the bike there is plenty of space for big coolers 2feet in width or less (We’ve never had a cooler that didn’t fit)
Can we bring a keg and use the on board tap system ?
No. We are not legally allowed to furnish equipment (such as the on-board tap) to be used for alcohol consumption. You may bring your own keg, but you must bring your own tap as well. We DO NOT recommend bringing kegs as they typically get very foamy, making a good pour difficult.
How many people ride maximum? How many pedal? What’s the least amount of people?
The HandleBar carries 16 passengers maximum, plus the Pilot, the Bar Handler. (17 total.) There are 10 pedaling seats and 5 non-pedaling seats to relax on plus room in the middle for one Bartender. We recommend at least 6 to rent (There are 10 “pedaling” seats, so 10 is actually ideal if everyone wants to pedal the entire time).
What is the Weather Policy?
We ride rain or shine.
If weather is bad enough (thunderstorms imminent), we will notify you at least 2 hours before the tour start time to offer a rain check. You may decline as long as weather is safe enough to ride. Never assume your ride is cancelled.
Please dress appropriately for predicted weather conditions.
What type of clothing should I wear ?
We recommend comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes.
What if our tour takes too long?
Your Bar Handler will do his or her best to keep you on time, however if intentional delays by the customer are encountered, we reserve the right to charge the card on file up to $200 based on the delay. We have never had to charge a late fee, so don’t worry.
Do you provide a Driver ?
Who should rent The HandleBar?
Bachelor and Bachelorette parties, Corporations for team building, group rewards, and promotions, Birthday parties, Church outings, company parties, conventions, sports teams, pub crawls, picnics, family reunions, you name it. We are available for tailgates for Colts & Pacers games or any of the many events going on in Indianapolis, too.
Who shouldn’t rent the The HandleBar?
If you are allergic to the outdoors, hate even the slightest form of anything remotely resembling exercise, or don’t want to be seen pedaling a 16-passenger bike around town then don’t rent.
Who can’t pedal The HandleBar?
The HandleBar typically has a minimum height requirement of 5’3″ for pedalers depending on the length of your legs (we have 3 adjustable seats) There is a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds for people on the bike seats. The back seat is perfect for those who don’t fit within the height and weight limitations.
All riders must be at least 18 years of age.
Who’s in charge of The HandleBar?
The Bar Handler. If you act in a dangerous manner, you’ll be asked to get off and find your own way home. You can imagine the difficulty we had finding insurance for this thing in America, so the rules are strictly enforced.
Second in command is the person who booked the tour. The Bar Handler will count on cooperation from this person if issues are encountered.
How much does it cost? When do I pay? How do I pay?
The Handlebar costs $400 per 2 hr tour on Friday and Saturday, and $300 per 2 hr tour Sunday thru Thursday.
You can pay by Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We do not accept checks. All bookings must be completed online (no more cash bookings allowed). To book your tour and pay online, please visit our bookings page.

What if I want to cancel or reschedule?
Cancellations more than 14 days out receive a rain check or refund minus $25. Cancellations less than 14 days out – No refund or rain check (you are responsible for full price of the tour, regardless of deposited amount). Please let us know if you need to cancel, as we will do our best to fill your tour. If we can fill your spot, we will refund you in full minus $25.
What’s the fastest the The HandleBar can go?

Do you have music?
All of our bikes have a stereo and aux cord and iphone cord for you to play your music.
What if we don’t want to drink alcohol ?
No Problem! We have tours where people just want to ride on The HandleBar and enjoy the city.
Do any of the bars we stop at offer shot or drink specials to HandleBar riders ?
No. Indiana State Law doesn’t allow them to offer a special to any certain group of people so it’s actually illegal.
I’ve read the FAQ but would like a visual… do you have any ?
Yup. Below is a video we made from customer photos we were tagged in on social media (Twitter/FB/Instagram) set to music and a couple videos of a GoPro cam mounted to the bike

Yes! The dimensions of the parts you can decorate are here: http://www.handlebarindy.com/bikedimensions/
